The bundle entitled Fernando Sor – Napoléon Coste Scelta di Studi per chitarra (Edizioni Suvini Zerboni) edited by Ruggero Chiesa, is a milestone for the pedagogy of guitar, particularly as what concerns the research about the two above mentioned composers of the XIX century. As a result of a selection of progressive pieces for guitar, we thought of a new bundle which could be a sequel to the book edited by Ruggero Chiesa: we selected forty progressive pieces from sixteen opus numbers by Sor, focusing on those pieces characterized both by a performative and a didactical relevance.

In other words, this book can be considered as a bridge to the most representative works by Sor, for which reason Les Folies d’Espagne variées et un Menuet is the last piece of this bundle and a hypothesis of connection to the more complex Fantasias such as opus 7, 9 and 30 among the others. Besides, we chose certain pieces with the aim to describe Fernando Sor as a composer of concert pieces, not only as an author of didactical studies.
