Clementi saw in the guitar a rich universe of timbral resources, that he used both in small ensembles and in chamber orchestras. Passionate about ancient music, he also wrote for lute, ending a chronological journey that goes from the Renaissance to the twentieth century. The six-string portrait of Clementi that we present in this book projects us into his kaleidoscopic world and into a literally rotating musical dimension, in which the sound material seems to follow a circular gear like that of a music box. Hypnotic and whirling, Clementi’s music translates Doratian networks into sound and gives the listener an immersive experience in a constantly evolving sound microcosm.
An artist also recognized for his human qualities, Clementi had collaborations with many famous artists, some of whom have drawn a portrait of him that we wanted to propose in the last pages of this book, together with the memories of his family and of his dearest friends.
